Every time I write a post for my blog, it doesn’t feel right. The default WordPress editor just doesn’t cut it for me. There’s too much junk around the editor text box, the font isn’t right, the contrast is too high. So I decided to do something about it. I googled and googled some more and found bits of code which I have put together in form of a WordPress plugin. Check out the screenshots that follow to see what the plugin does to your WordPress editor.
Features:
- Editor Font will be changed to Georgia instead of Consolas
- Editor Font size will be increased by 110% in the Visual Editor and 120% in the HTML Editor. The Line Height will also be increased accordingly.
- Editor Background Color will be changed to #FCFCFC and the Font Color to #333333. This is to reduce strain on the eyes. The original black and white combination has a high contrast.
- The Editor will be set into the Single Column Mode.
- The Left Side Navigation bar will be collapsed.
- All extra non functional elements will be hidden.

I downloaded and installed this plugin and wow what a difference it makes….
My one ? is ” How do you publish? it does not seem to have a clickable link or icon or ne thing that i can see unless I missed it somehow….
You will have to scroll down and you will see all the widgets that you used to see on the right hand side normally. You might want to manually drag and drop them to reorder them according to usability.

Sorry but you have me puzzled there…
There is NO right hand sidebar AT ALL ..no widgets ..no nothing …not in Firefox 5 or Chrome with WP3.2.1..as such I have had to de-activate the plug-in ….
any solutions??..thanks
Hi Michael, you’re right – there’s no right hand sidebar anymore, because its using the single column schema now. All the widgets that were there in the right hand side bar have now been pushed below the Edit Box. So will have have to scroll down to see them.
@Guy, @Michael, I have updated the plugin, to take care of the issues you guys reported
@Pratik – i just updated and tried it .. nothing has changed .. still no side widgets .. no where to be seen … ??? I have de-activated and re-activated and still there is no way to actually publish anything you write !!!..thought I’d tell you ..and I scroll down as much as I want and still there is nothing!!..
